Breaching refers to the act of leaping high out of the water. Seeing these giants perform this dynamic act is nothing short of thrilling! No one is sure why whales breach. It seems as if orcas in the southern resident community breach more frequently than those of the northern resident group. Transients sometimes breach to stun their prey during a hunt. |
